Skills include boat-handling under power and sail, familiarity with all systems and common trouble shooting solutions, the logic behind provisioning and cooking aboard, coastal navigation, sail trim and anchoring considerations. You will leave this course confident in your ability to handle a bareboat sailing charter.
As Corban continues west around the world, opportunities are continually evolving for the WSE trainee to come aboard for Passage Making training. Participants are fully integrated into all activities including watch standing, navigation, sail evolutions at sea, heavy weather tactics, GPS, Radio and Radar operation, fishing at sea, food, water and cooking considerations, passage making theory, safety and preparation. The only way possible to understand and fully appreciate the sea and her boundless magic and wonder to sail over a distant horizon.
One of the only venues available to learn single-handed technique in a formal setting is aboard Corban. Dan has successfully sailed over 20,000 miles single-handed and developed a very systematic set of skills to aide the single-handed sailor and create safe environment and bring single or short-handed sailing into the reach of amateur sailors. This course is especially beneficial for the sailor who sails double handed with a crew whose enjoyment is focused more in the sailing environment rather than pulling the strings. This program has also received praise from skippers who sail with regular crews stating that their execution of maneuvers became much more fluid with an understanding of how sailing techniques can be executed single handedly.
